Ellie Garvey is an Indianapolis-based visual artist. She studied Metalsmithing & Jewelry Design at Indiana University (2006) and then went on to work in fashion jewelry design in San Francisco, CA, designing collections for corporate markets such as Nordstrom and Macy's (2006-2008). After fifteen years of designing and fabricating her own jewelry collections for online marketplaces, group exhibitions, art fairs/festivals, and private commissions, Ellie has shifted her focus toward picture book art and fine art. She is currently developing a collection of contemporary folk art paintings featuring women and children as the central figures of redemption.
Ellie is a 2025-2026 Stutz SPACE Resident; she was a 2024-2025 RSA (Religion, Spirituality, and Arts) fellow (IU Herron School of Art & Design, Lilly Endowment & Herbert Simon Family Foundation). Ellie was also a 2022-2023 Creative Renewal Arts fellow (a $10,000 award issued by the Arts Council of Indianapolis, funded by Eli Lilly Foundation).
Ellie has published works in permanent catalog in the LACMA Balch Art Research Library in Los Angeles, CA. She has exhibited across the country and has participated in New York’s Upstate Art Weekend. Her work can be found on Artsy, represented by Dama Gallery and has been featured on the Jumbotron billboard in Times Square, represented by HMVC Gallery, NY. Her memberships include SNAG (Society of North American Goldsmiths), SCBWI (The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators), and NCS (National Collage Society).
